The Ministry of Health and Wellness is projecting that the country will have a total of 1-point-four million doses of vaccines in stock by the end of September.

The projection was made by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dunstan Bryan, at a media briefing last evening.

The doses expected from the United States and the United Kingdom are bilateral gifts, while the African Medical Platform and COVAX shipments are purchases by the government.

The Ministry will now open vaccination to all citizens 18 years and older.

A mass vaccination blitz will begin on Saturday, July 31, and run to Thursday, August 5.

Persons can register beginning at 10:00 Friday morning.

The Permanent Secretary says the vaccination rollout will now begin to focus on local stakeholders to ensure community take-up of the vaccines.

Mr. Bryan says the Private Sector Organization Initiative will also play an important roll in mass rollout of the vaccines.
