Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, Dunstan Bryan, says the Ministry has used up nearly the entire COVID-19 budget it received from the Finance Ministry last year.
Of the $8.8 billion the Ministry got in response funds, they have already expended some $8.4 billion.
Mr. Bryan says 38-million dollars was allocated to the Local Government Ministry and the National Solid Waste Management Authority, which support the Health Ministry in its efforts to respond to the prevailing pandemic.
He says the Ministry has also retrofitted hospitals to provide additional spaces, while establishing field hospitals.
The Permanent Secretary also outlined the new budget for the government’s COVID-19 response.
