The Ministry of Health says it’s concerned about the rising number of Covid-19 cases this month.
During a media briefing this morning, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Jacquiline Bisasor-Mckenzie said Covid-19 cases are trending upward.
Dr.Bisasor-Mckenzie says positivity rates across the island have also been concerning.
She notes that the country’s positivity rate last week was 10-point-8 per cent:
Dr.Bisasor-Mckenzie says deaths are also on the rise across the country.
She says an increase in the number of cases has led to more people succumbing to the impact of the virus on their immune systems:
And, Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton, says the government is paying close attention to the cases in the parishes of St. James and St. Ann.
Although the government is focused on containing the spread in Manchester, Dr. Tufton says other parishes will not be left behind.
He noted that calls for increase testing are being answered.
Dr. Tufton is urging private hospitals to get certified, to conduct COVID-19 antigen tests.
