Minister of Tourism and Entertainment Dr. Wykeham McNeill, says talks are in progress with stakeholders in Montego Bay to transform the historic monuments within the city, into attractions.

Addressing the official opening of the Montego Bay Cultural Centre, located in the historic Sam Sharpe Square, on Friday the Minister said the city square itself is an iconic spot, which has played important roles in several stages of national development.

Dr. McNeill pointed out that he has visited other countries, and observed where attractions are created around places with less historic and cultural value than some of the monuments in Montego Bay.

Discussions are underway involving the Parish Council, the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), owners of businesses in the area and other stakeholders, to transform Sam Sharpe Square into the architectural jewel
