Prime Minister Andrew Holness is rejecting a claim by Opposition Spokesman on Energy, Phillip Paulwell, that Venezuela is being deliberately excluded from work underway to upgrade the Petrojam oil refinery.

Mr. Paulwell made the claim during a question and answer session in the House of Representatives last night.

Mr. Paulwell also told Prime Minister Holness that it’s unfortunate that his administration appears to be blaming Venezuela for the slow pace at which the refinery is being upgraded.

The East Kingston MP said the Holness-administration should not forget how Venezuela helped Jamaica.

Prime Minister Holness fired back saying he’s an agent of the Jamaican state and no other.

Mr. Holness says the government is moving ahead to upgrade the refinery. He says significant efforts have been made to involve Venezeula in the process.
