Prime Minister Andrew Holness is rejecting allegations contained in the television programme 18 Degrees North which was aired on Television Jamaica last night.

Mr. Holness says he has been advised that there’s basis for him to pursue legal action.

In a statement issued this morning – Mr. Holness said he totally and completely reject the assertions, inferences and innuendoes made in the programme.

The Prime Minister says in particular, he wishes to make it clear that all his property taxes are paid up to date.

Additionally Mr. Holness says he has never entered into any arrangement with the intent of evading any of Jamaica’s tax laws or benefiting from public contracts.

The Prime Minister says he views the issue seriously and has retained legal counsel.

Mr. Holness says Senior Counsel has already been advised that there is factual basis on which the programme’s content is libelous

The Prime Minister says he and his family have been the subject of several attacks on their character and reputation in the past.

According to Mr. Holness, as a public figure, he expects to be targeted.

However, he says it appears that there’s a coordinated and persistent attempt to tarnish his name.

Mr. Holness says the matter is in the hands of his attorneys any future query or clarification should be addressed to his lawyer, Gordon Robinson.’
