Prime Minister Andrew Holness arrived in Philadephia this morning for official engagements, among them the 127th staging of the Penn Relays at the Franklin Field Stadium.

His visit coincides with the launch of the United States leg of the Jamaica 60 celebrations, scheduled to launch this Sunday in New York.

Prime Minister Holness will participate in a field presentation organized by the Penn Relays to commemorate Jamaica’s 60th year of independence.

His delegation includes Jamaican Ambassador to the US, Audrey Marks, Jamaica’s Honorary Consul to Philadelphia, Christopher Chaplin, and Jamaica’s Consul General to New York, Alsion Roach-Wilson.

Holness is expected to deliver a keynote address at an investment forum hosted by Jamaica Promotions Limited, JAMPRO, later today.

Five Jamaican schools will compete this evening during event finals at the Penn Relays.

Defending champions Holmood Technical will face rivals Edwin Allen and Hydel High in the 4x400m run.

Also, Title-Holder Edwin Allen will lead the five Jamaican athletic secondary-school teams in the 4 x 100 meter championship finals.

The games conclude tomorrow, Saturday April 30.
