Opposition Leader Andrew Holness has proposed to increase the income tax threshold to $1.5-million per annum.
This means that Jamaicans whose annual gross income is $1.5-million or less will not pay income tax.
The measure is part of a ten-point-plan that Mr. Holness pitched to the electorate in a broadcast to the nation last night.

Mr. Holness says the measure is intended to give Jamaicans a break and allow them to improve their lives.
The measure is geared specifically at nurses, teachers and young professionals.
