Prime Minister, Andrew Holness is welcoming support from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, ATF.
He says their support will aid the Government’s plans to combat crime.
Prime Minister Holness says national security is of top priority for his administration.
He says this is also of mutual interest to Jamaica and the United States.
Prime Minister Holness says the FBI’s support is expected in the areas where the country is experiencing the highest levels of crime.
Prime Minister Holness was speaking at a function hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce, AMCHAM, to bid farewell to Ambassador-designate of Jamaica to the United States, Audrey Marks.
US Ambassador to Jamaica, Luis Moreno who was in attendance says the agents will be in the country to help develop law enforcement, conduct training, help with investigations and tackle lottery scamming.
Meanwhile, Mr.Moreno says he wants to help bring another half-billion dollars of US investment into the country and also double the two and a half million tourists visiting the island.
