Just days after a five-year-old boy was mauled by dogs in St Ann, MPs in the House of Representatives passed the Dogs Liability for Attacks Bill of 2020.
House Speaker, Marisa Dalrymple Philibert, made the announcement during yesterday’s sitting of the Lower House after Justice Minister, Delroy Chuck, called for a third reading of the bill.
Minister Chuck says the bill is not aimed at the imprisonment of dog owners but rather to encourage responsible dog ownership.
The Justice Minister also sought to explain if persons who are fined under the proposed law would have a criminal record.
