Veteran parliamentarian and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Pearnel Charles, says the ongoing discussion in the public sphere regarding the government’s deal to sell the Rooms on the Beach property in St. Ann is unwarranted.

Mr. Charles, who’s also, MP for Clarendon North Central, says he’s concerned with the public discourse surrounding the deal.

The Andrew Holness-led administration has come in for criticism for their negotiations in the sale of the beach front property.

A report tabled in Parliament from former Contractor General, Dirk Harrison, showed the property was sold for 6-point-3 million US dollars less than the official value of the property.

But the government, through Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the Prime Minister, Daryl Vaz, says the deal for the property was reasonable.
