Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Rocky Mede, is assuring citizens that their human rights will be maintained during the State of Public Emergency.

He also says the Jamaica National Service Corps will be dispatched during this operation.

The National Service Corps was an initiative launched by Prime Minister Holness last year to assist unattached youth by enlisting them in the JDF. This will be the first time the Corps is taking part in active operation being carried out by the security forces.

Major General Mede is also urging Jamaicans to provide information on all types of criminal activity by calling the JDF Tipline at 837-8888. He also says the Joint Security Forces will keep the public informed.
