There’s been an increase in the number of road fatalities in St. Ann when compared to the same period last year.
As at Tuesday of this week, there’ve been 32 fatal crashes resulting in 40 deaths on the parish’s roads.
Head of the St Ann Police, Senior Superintendent Dwight Powell, gave the details at Thursday’s meeting of the St Ann Municipal Corporation.
SSP Powell identified some of the roads, mainly on the coast of the parish, which have been crash hot spots. The Laughlands and Llandovery section of the North Coast Highway have been singled out for special mention.
He says carelessness was the cause of most of the crashes and deaths.
