The Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, says it has taken note of the contrasting version of events that led to the fatal shooting of two men by the police on Saturday along Terminal Road in Old Harbour, St. Catherine.

Twenty-three-year-old tradesman Negria Bailey and 21-year-old Daniel McKenzie died after they were shot during an alleged confrontation with the police.

Two firearms, a 9-millimetre Beretta pistol, and one homemade handgun were reportedly recovered during the incident.

Commissioner of INDECOM, Hugh Falconer, says his organisation has not only noted the claims of the residents, but a team will be dispatched to engage the relatives of the deceased.

A central feature of the investigations will be whether the lawmen involved the shooting were wearing body cameras.

According to Mr. Falconer, of the 55 cases now before the courts involving members of the police, no body-worn camera footage was available.
