Sergio Aguero is one of five Manchester City players unavailable today’s game against Brighton and Hove Albion, but Raheem Sterling is set to return for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Aguero missed Sunday’s FA Cup win over Birmingham City after coming into contact with someone who had tested positive for COVID-19 and his continued self-isolation rules him out of the Seagulls’ visit to the Etihad Stadium.

Injury means Nathan Ake and Aymeric Laporte will also be absent, whilst several players, including Eric Garcia, continue to self-isolate due to Coronavirus.

However, Sterling’s return is a boost for Guardiola, who confirmed the winger is available again after being left out of the matchday squad against Birmingham.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will play Fulham, rather than Aston Villa, with the Cottagers’ subsequent fixture against Chelsea pushed back a day in a complex piece of rescheduling that shows the challenge of continuing elite sport during the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Premier League confirmed Aston Villa had requested their match against Spurs be postponed following a substantial coronavirus outbreak at the club.

The league accepted that request, then asked Fulham to fulfill the fixture instead.
