J. Wray and Nephew has installed a US $14 million distillation column as part of its thrust to cleaner energy on the global rum production market.

The launch event was held at its New Yarmouth Distillery in Clarendon recently.

Speaking at the event, Director of Supply Chain at J. Wray and Nephew, Georgina Rueda shared that the company’s recently instated distillation column is set to achieve several sustainability benefits as they play their part in reducing waste generation.

Rueda also noted that the new distillation column is expected to achieve 20 per cent less energy consumption and generate 27 per cent less waste, reducing the carbon footprint in the company’s operation.

Meanwhile, deputy prime minister, Dr Horace Chang, who was at the launch event, hailed the Campari Group and J. Wray and Nephew’s historic and economic growth as the brands continue to establish significant strides on the global rum market.
