The Jamaica Beach Birthright Environmental Movement, JaBBEM, is welcoming Thursday’s court ordered injunction, which secures unrestricted access to the beach, river, waterfalls and the sea at Little Dunn’s River, in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.

The injunction prevents the government, its employees and agents, from blocking or restricting public access to the area.

It also bars the defendants from obstructing public use of the surrounding lands, roads, tracks and pathways that lead to the area.

JaBBEM president, Dr. Devon Taylor, spoke with our news centre on Friday.

Dr Taylor says the injunction has broader implications.

Attorneys for the government say they intend to appeal the injunction.

Dr Taylor says JaBBEM and the Little Dunn’s River community are prepared to meet that challenge.
