Jamaica-born Judith Green is the new World Bank Group country manager for Barbados and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States.
Her appointment took effect Tuesday, September 1.
Green, who will be based in Barbados, will represent the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation, IFC, and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency.
In the role, she will be working with governments and the private sector to advance job creation and sustainable development across the sub-region.
World Bank Group says Green brings a rare combination of multilateral and government experience to the position.
Most recently, she served concurrently as World Bank Group country manager for Malaysia and IFC country manager for Papua New Guinea, the Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand.
Prior to that, Green served as IFC country manager for the Caribbean, overseeing operations across 14 member countries, including Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
Between 2013 and 2016, while on external service leave from IFC, she led the Government of Jamaica’s Coordination and Implementation Unit, which was responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of the country’s 2013 four-year Extended Fund Facility with the International Monetary Fund — a landmark economic reform programme for the country.
Before joining the World Bank Group, Green, a career banker, worked at several financial institutions focused on corporate finance and global loan capital markets.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of the West Indies and is a fellow of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Jamaica.
