Jamaica has recorded its fourth case of the monkey pox virus. The fourth positive case is the second that has been locally transmitted.
The patient is a male from St. James.
In a statement this afternoon, the Health and Wellness Ministry said the man has no recent travel history and was not in contact with the three previously announced cases.
The patient is isolated at home and the parish health department has commenced its contact tracing.
So far only one patient has recovered from the virus.
Eleven people are in home quarantine and one person is hospitalised.
