Jamaica’s junior high jumper, Brandon Pottinger, is again in the spot light after clearing 7 feet 1 inch to win the boys high jump at the Adidas track and field Nationals in Virginia, on Sunday.

In January, Pottinger who was born in the USA, but chose to represent the country of his parents, cleared 7-feet at the VA Showcase in Virginia.

Pottinger says he went  into the meet under prepared.

Jamaica has been stereotyped as being one of the world’s best talent pools for sprinters specifically. The country’s reputation is starting to get similar respect in the hurdles internationally at the professional level.

However, Pottinger is hoping to change that view and represent the country as one of the best for the high jump at the collegiately and professional levels of the sport.
