A Jamaican family of four who were trapped since Sunday in rising flood waters in Houston Texas have been rescued!

The four were rescued this afternoon following the intervention of the Jamaican consulate in Miami.

The flood waters associated with Hurricane Harvey have marooned large portions of Houston and left thousands trapped and hundreds homeless.

Confirmation of the rescue of the Jamaican family of 4pm Monday afternoon from Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith.

Minister Johnson Smith says she’s pleased that their lives have been saved.

This morning, the Jamaica family of four, who were trapped since yesterday sent out desperate pleas for help.

This as flood waters, which were waist high, began rising around their home in the Grand Mission Cinco area of Houston.

The daughter of one of the family members who were trapped spoke this afternoon with our news center.
