One of Jamaica’s first drive-through testing centres has evolved into Jamaica’s first ever drive-through full-service medical clinic.
The clinic, the ‘Quick Clinic Drive Thru’, is set up by two private sector companies, Snap Consulting and Oneness Health. In a statement, the operator of the clinic says it’s moving to address the excess wait time often experienced in several of Jamaica’s medical centres.
“Most people do not have the time to go to the doctor’s office to sit and wait for three hours to be seen. We saw a need to provide a quick and reliable service to our patients and it was due to this consideration that Quick Clinic Drive Thru came into being,” noted the clinic’s co-founder, Brandon Hugh.
Quick Clinic Drive Thru is located at 89 Barbican Road in St. Andrew and is open seven days per week.
A wide array of services, including glucometer readings, blood panelling, flu shots, wound dressing along with school/work-related medicals are offered. In addition, the clinic says it seeks to assist people in Jamaica who are reluctant to visit the doctor’s office.
According to Quick Clinic Drive Thru, it has two medical doctors on staff, as well as nurses and clinic staff.
The clinic says on average, patients can be in and out of the drive through facility within an average time of eight minutes.
“We are seeing that more patients ‘who feel a bit unwell’, who under normal circumstances would not go to a doctor to wait due to not wanting to take the time off work, are driving through our clinic. The term prevention could not be more relevant. With our quick service, patients can come in at the first sign of feeling unwell, as opposed to waiting until things get so bad that they must go to the doctor,” noted Dr Alloi Allen who’s a co-founder of Oneness Health.
Quick Clinic Drive Thru says it initially started out as an entity which filled a need for convenient drive through Covid-19 testing.
“With life coming back to some semblance of normality, we immediately saw how much our fellow Jamaicans yearned for convenience and timeliness in healthcare and decided it was time to launch our medical drive through centre; one which allowed our patients to get their services done as quickly, efficiently & professionally,” Mr. Hugh further commented.
Meanwhile, Manager of the Clinic, Vaughn Black, has described the clinic as an innovative medical endeavour.
Mr. Black says Quick Clinic Drive Thru was intentional about being the only drive through medical clinic on the island that accepts all major health cards.
“As always, we listen to our patients and one of their top requests was the ability to use health cards. We are proud to announce that we are now accepting all major health insurance including: Sagicor, Guardian Group and Canopy,” Black commented.
