The Police are reporting that they were able to successfully de-escalate a hostage situation at a business place on Molynes Road in Kingston 10 last night.

A statement early this morning from the police’s Corporate Communications Unit says its negotiators were able to secure the safe release of several hostages and the surrender of the hoodlums.

According to the JCF, the situation  began unfolding when two armed men went to the premises and attempted to rob the operator and patrons.

However, the Police team’s speedy response surprised the robbers before they could escape.

The robbers then locked themselves inside the building, taking the owner and the patrons hostage.

The CCU says Acting Head of Police Area 4, Senior Superintendent Morris Robinson was called in along with the JCF’s Special Weapons and Tactical Team, SWAT.

According to the statement from the JCF, after an expert marathon negotiation, the police de-escalated the situation and the robbers surrendered.

A video has surfaced online of the incident, where SSP Robinson is heard speaking to the criminals over a megaphone,  while they held occupants of the business place hostage.
