Chairman of the Jamaica Dairy Development Board, Dr. Derrick Deslandes, says praedial larceny is the single greatest impediment to the beef and dairy farm sector.
The price of beef and milk continue to rise by as much as 50% in the last year.
And farmers are unable to fill the local demand for beef or milk.
Dr Deslandes is also President of the College of Agriculture, Science and Education.
He’s urging stakeholders to adopt more modern means of feeding animals.
According to Dr. Deslandes, the old methods are inefficient.
