The Jamaica Defence Force, JDF’s, Air Wing, says 24 people were rescued on Friday after being trapped by flood waters in Hordley Crossing, St Thomas.
In a media release, the JDF says several individuals were travelling in the Hordley Crossing area when the road became impassable due to rising flood waters.
The JDF says the trapped people were safely airlifted to the Wheelersfield Community Centre.
The Force says it remains committed to using its assets to safeguard the lives of all citizens.
It’s urging all Jamaicans to be vigilant and cautious when traversing flooded areas during the severe weather conditions currently affecting the island.
