And in the JLP, three time Member of Parliament, Sharon Hay-Webster, is set to challenge attorney Leslie Campbell on Saturday, for the right to represent the constituency of North East St. Catherine.
Hay-Webster faced the JLP’s selection committee yesterday afternoon, while Campbell appeared before the committee last Friday.
It’s understood that the third person interested in the seat, Dr. Lennon Richards, had his application rejected by the committee.
Following the interviews, it was decided that both Hay Wesbter and Campbell, should proceed to a selection contest, which has been set tentatively for Saturday.
The date is in doubt as some JLP delegates in Area Council Two are concerned about the integrity of the delegates list.
That list currently has the name of 180 persons.
But the party secretariat is reportedly pushing to have all its candidates in place, ahead of next Sunday’s meeting of its powerful Central Executive.
Meanwhile former JLP Deputy Leader, Dr. Chris Tufton and Councillor for the Point Hill Division, Devon Wint, are also set to face delegates on Saturday, for the right to represent the West Central St. Catherine seat.
Approximately 500 delegates are expected to vote in that selection exercise.
