The JLP’s Deputy General Secretary, Audley Gordon, has been appointed Chief Technical Officer at the National Solid Waste Management Authority, NSWMA.

The appointment took place two weeks ago.

Gordon was among over twenty persons who applied for the NSWMA’s top job, that of Executive Director.

NSWMA Chairman Dennis Chung says he also applied for the post of Deputy Executive Director, which was later changed to Chief Technical Officer.

Mr. Chung says political pressure did not a play a role in Gordon receiving the job.

He says the selection was made by an independent human resources committee.

In the meantime, Rupert Pryce, who’s been seconded from the Ministry of Local Government, is Acting Executive Director.
