President of the Jamaica Olympic Association, JOA, Christopher Samuda, says the snap election called by French president Emmanuel Macron could have serious consequences ahead of the Paris Olympics.

The two-round parliamentary elections have been called for June 30 and July 7, with the Summer Games set to begin less than three weeks later on July 26.

Samuda says it’s not the best time for the people of France to go to the polls.

He says the Macron administration maybe using the Olympics as a distraction.
