The Jamaica Public Service Company, JPS, says a reduction in customer traffic triggered the decision to close its Portmore offices.

Scores of placard bearing residents of the municipality turned up at the facility yesterday to protest the closure of the facility.

The protest was led by the Mayor of Portmore, Leon Thomas.

But Director of Communications at the JPS, Winsome Callum, says the decision was taken after deep consideration and consultation with stakeholders.

Mrs. Callum says the majority of customers using the Portmore outlet are utilizing the bill payment facilities inside the locations.

She’s encouraging customers to take advantage of the company’s digital and e-commerce platforms to access services.

She’s assuring customers that the closure of the offices will not affect their ability to conduct their JPS bill transactions.
