The Jamaica Public Service, JPS, is reporting a two percent increase in electricity theft since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
JPS Distribution Operations Manager, Detommie Sergeant-Fuller, made the disclosure during the Hanover Municipal Corporation on Thursday.
She says since last year’s onset, the company has seen an increase in losses.
Sergeant Fuller noted that while the company is putting a dent in the illegal practice, challenges still remain.

Commanding Officer in charge of the Hanover Police Division, Superintendent Sharon Beeput, disclosed that the police recently arrested two persons in connection with electricity theft.
The two are booked to appear in the Hanover Parish Court on February 23.
