President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association JTA, La Sonja Harrison, is calling on the government to immediately respond to a request for a meeting to address multiple anomalies and discrepancies arising from the recent compensation restructuring exercise.

She made the call today at a press conference at the JTA’s headquarters in downtown Kingston.

Mrs. Harrison outlined some of the outstanding issues that are negatively impacting teachers across the island.

According to Mrs. Harrison the government appears unbothered by the potential negative impact on education.

Meanwhile, the JTA president, La Sonja Harrison says the government should consider calculating salaries for teachers in a similar way to that of the political directorate.
