A Police Corporal is to appear before the St. Elizabeth Circuit Court on Friday, to answer a charge of murder.

The Independent Commission Investigations, INDECOM, has charged Corporal Selvin Williams, with the murder of Valbert Salmon.

Reports are that in 2012, a police team led by Corporal Williams was on mobile patrol in Top Hill, St. Elizabeth.

They reportedly came upon two men fighting in the streets at a dance in the community.

Corporal Williams, who was driving the Police service vehicle stopped and accosted the men.

It’s reported that during his attempt to defuse the situation, Corporal Williams pulled his firearm and shot one of the men.

However, eyewitnesses have challenged the Policeman’s version of events.

Following a three year investigation, INDECOM have laid a murder charge against Corporal Williams.

The Policeman is out on $400,000 bail.
