The Mayor of Kingston, Senator Angela Brown Burke, has announced that her city has been declared a Creative City by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO.

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network, UCCN, promotes cooperation among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable development.

Kingston has now become the 70th city in the network, joining the likes of Montreal in Canada, Nassau in the Bahamas and Nagoya in Japan.
