Motorists and pedestrians were sent scampering in downtown, Montego Bay in St James this afternoon when two armed men exchanged gunfire in Sam Sharpe Square.

Preliminary reports indicate two men, who are both license firearm holders, are nursing gunshot wounds following the shootout.

The dramatic scenes were caught on tape by pedestrians and are circulating on social media.

In two videos obtained by our news centre, members of the public are seen scampering for cover as two men fire at each other. One of the men appeared to be hobbled from an injury.

The police have confirmed the incident occurred shortly after 1:00 this afternoon.

The St James Police are investigating what is currently a non-fatal shooting incident involving a 40-year-old license firearm holder and a 62-year-old license firearm holder.
