Political analyst, Lloyd B. Smith, is warning that the Opposition People’s National Party, PNP, could have a challenge regaining state power if current polling trends hold.

He was reacting to the latest Nationwide/Bluedot polls which found a massive 30-point deficit between the Opposition and the governing Jamaica Labour Party.

Mr. Smith says the Mark Golding-led party is no longer a viable political entity.

The Nationwide/Bluedot poll also found that both parties have lost ground over the last year.

Despite this, the pollsters found that a large majority of Jamaicans still have greater confidence in the ability of the Andrew Holness-led JLP to manage the Covid19 pandemic and govern the country at this time.

Mr. Smith says it is significant that the PNP has not been able to benefit from the perceived discontent in society.

The Nationwide/Bluedot poll was conducted among 15-hundred Jamaicans between August 14 and 30, 18 years and older, across all 63 constituencies.
