Local Government Minister, Desmond McKenzie, has disclosed that he intends to provide a lifeline to the entertainment sector by reducing fees charged by Municipal Corporations island-wide, if given the support by Mayors.

Addressing a special sitting of the Hanover Municipal Corporation’s monthly general meeting, Mr McKenzie noted that since March last year, local authorities have lost over a billion dollars.

The Portfolio Minister noted that if given the support of the local authorities, such a move could provide stability to the sector that has been hit hard by the shutdown.

Minister McKenzie says the possible reduction would highlight the commitment of Government officials to the restoration of the sector.
