A man, who was reporting on condition of bail, was fatally shot during a confrontation with the Police after he attempted to kidnap a woman.
The dead man has been identified as Jermaine Robinson of Old Greenvale in Manchester.
The incident took place in May Day, Marshalls Crescent in the parish.
A browning 9mm Pistol and two rounds of ammunition were reportedly seized following the incident.
Reports from the Constabulary’s Corporate Communications Unit, CCU, are that lawmen responded to a call about the kidnapping of a woman by three men in a Toyota Mark X motor car.
When the police arrived on the scene, they were greeted with gunfire during which Robinson was fatally shot.
His two accomplices escaped on foot.
The woman who was being kidnapped was unharmed.
Robinson was reporting on bail for robbery with aggravation and would have returned to court in September.
The Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau and the Independent Commission of Investigations, INDECOM, are investigating.
