More than $1 trillion worth of applications have been approved by local government authorities across the life of the Holness Administration.

That was the claim made by Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie as he made his contribution to the sectoral debate Tuesday afternoon.

This figure includes applications for housing, commercial and resort developments. The minister noted that most applications are processed within the 90 day window.

He says in 2022 alone more than $264 billion worth of applications were processed.

Meanwhile, as drought conditions continue to affect the island, Minister McKenzie says about $460 million have been spent to improve access to water for rural communities.
