Director of Family Health Services, Dr. Melody Ennis, says the fatality rate from Covid-19 in the country is increasing.

Speaking on Cliff Hughes Online on Wednesday, Dr. Ennis says more measures will be put in place to curb a spike.

But, the Family Health Director says based on last week’s figures the nation’s vaccination uptake is steadily increasing.

Jamaica is due to receive 1.9 million doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccines in August, however Dr. Ennis says the jabs will arrive much earlier, with the shipment now due on the island later this month.

There are mounting concerns as it regards the safety of the vaccines after the US FDA warned of the potential of developing Guillain-Barre syndrome.

Dr. Ennis says information will be thoroughly analyzed in order for the Ministry to plan against the possibility of telling side effects or even death.
