Several medical experts are of the view more young people being admitted to hospital with severe Covid-19 infections, is an indicator that the Delta variant is in the island.

President of the Medical Doctors Association JMDA, Dr. Mindi Fitz Henley says there appears to be an increase in the number of young people who are visiting public health facilities seeking treatment for Covid-19.
President of the Medical Association of Jamaica, Dr. Andrew Manning says his members have also noticed the worrying trend.
Dr. Manning says he’d not be surprised if the variant is present among the population.

In the meantime, Professor of Occupational Health and Safety at the University of Technology, Alverston Bailey, says the delta variant present symptoms in more young people compared to the other variants of the disease.
