Clinical Scientist and Microbiologist, Dr. Anthony Jones, says the number of persons tested for COVID-19 daily in Jamaica, is not enough to give an accurate reflection of how the virus is affecting the population.

Dr. Jones is calling on the Ministry of Health to partner with more private institutions to expand the availability of testing across the island.

He says a sample of 600 people is insufficient.

Dr. Jones is urging the government to ramp up efforts to provide more laboratories for testing.

He is recommending monthly antigen and antibody testing.

Meanwhile, the Clinical Scientist says with the outbreak of a second strain of COVID-19 in the UK, more testing is needed at this time.

He notes that several private doctors are willing to provide testing.
