The Ministry of Youth and Education has terminated its relationship with the organisation Embracing Orphans, whose founder was cited for professional misconduct in the United States.
Minister of Youth, Fayval Williams, says it will also vacate a child care facility it leased from the same organization within the next 90 days.
Earlier this year Nationwide News reported that the founder of Embracing Orphans, Carl Robanske’s education certificate was suspended in the US after it was established he had sexually inappropriate exchanges with a minor.
Despite the suspension of the Child Protection and Family Services Agency, CPFSA continued to engage his entity and had been leasing a property from the organization to house orphans.
Minister Williams also says she’s called on the Office of the Children’s Advocate to investigate the extent of contact that Mr. Robanske had with children here in Jamaica.
