Portfolio Minister, Edmund Bartlett says crucial discussions have been had with international partners towards the establishment of a global tourism resilience and crisis management centre in Jamaica.

A statement from the Tourism Ministry says Minister Bartlett recently met with the leadership of the World Bank Group, the Organization of American States, OAS and other policy stakeholders in the US capital, Washington DC.

Minister Bartlett says the discussions followed up on several issues which were raised at the Global Tourism Conference which was held in Jamaica earlier this year.

Minister Bartlett says the discussions with the global tourism stakeholders also took into consideration steps intended to mitigate against the potential impact of cyber crimes or any other act of God on growth in tourism-dependent countries.
