Another multiple shooting in the troubled August Town community has pushed Eastern St. Andrew Member of Parliament Fayval Williams to call for the installation of Closed Circuit Television, CCTV, in the area.

The brazen attack happened yesterday near Bryce Hill in the community. It left one person dead and three others injured.

MP Williams says she was touring the community along with Justice Minister Delroy Chuck and a UK crime and gang expert, when she got the news.

She says the shooter approached residents, pretended to ask for directions and then opened fire. The MP says the shooter then fled. She says a student of Jamaica College is among those shot and injured.

Mrs. Williams says the community needs to be on the National Security Ministry’s CCTV programme, aimed at fighting crime.

The national CCTV project is called ‘Jamaica Eye’. It is to cost the government nearly three billion dollars.

And, will allow citizens and businesses with cameras pointing in public spaces to voluntarily provide their feed to the Ministry’s monitoring centers.
