Chairman of the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association, JaRIA, Ewan Simpson, is welcoming the news that Jamaican intellectual property owners will soon be able to use these rights as collateral to acquire loans.

Simpson is calling on financial institutions to embrace to the idea.

He warns it will fall flat without their support.

Mr. Simpson agrees with the State Minister that the move could be a game changer.

He says this could allow members of the creative industries to tap into the value of their hard work to further expand.

But, the JaRIA Chairman says it will also serve as a philosophical boon to the sector.
