Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Courtney Williams, says the Ministry is developing a policy to assist in the rehabilitation of criminal offenders.

The programme, entitled the National Offender Management Policy, is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Mr. Williams says the policy will assist in strengthening the rehabilitation process in the correctional system.

The Permanent Secretary says the Ministry’s target is to find measures to lower the rate of recidivism among prisoners.

Mr. Williams further added that previous measures to address the issue of recidivism have proven futile.
