Transport Minister Audley Shaw says the New Road Traffic Act helps to reduce the high level of road crashes and fatalities.

The Act will take effect next month.

According to the latest traffic report from the Road Safety Unit, 16 persons died from 14 fatal crashes since the start of the year.

And Jamaica recorded a total of 4-hundred and 88 road fatalities last year.

Minister Shaw is again appealing to motorists to act responsibly on the road.
