Former Vere Tech star Nickisha Pryce has been voted Collegiate Track Athlete of the year for the South Central Region in the United States.

Pryce, a senior at the University of Arkanas, won the 400 metres at the NCAA Division One Outdoor Championships in Eugene Oregon, last week.

Pryce’s winning time of 48.89 seconds is a new collegiate record, a new personal best and a new national record, beating the 22-year-old mark of Lorraine Fenton.

Pryce’s remarkable season was highlight by three sub 50 second performances, having started the season with a lifetime best of 50.21 seconds.
