Telecoms companies have agreed to start selling unlocked mobile phones, in order to facilitate number portability.

That’s according to Technology Minister, Phillip Paulwell.

Minister Paulwell says this does not apply to customers who are under a contract with the phone company, including those on post paid plans.

According to the Minister, once the contract expires, the company should unlock the device.

Minister Pauwell says those telecoms companies that fail to abide by the new regulations, will feel the full force of the law.
