Murders have increased by 31-percent this year for the period January 1-31 when compared with the corresponding period last year.
According to statistics from the Constabulary Force, 97 people were murdered across the island last month compared with 74 for the same period last year.
The data shows that 57-percent of the murders were gang related.
23-percent were due to criminal acts.
The JCF says it wasn’t able to established context for another 11-percent of murders committed
But the Statistical unit of the JCF says 8% of this year’s murders were due to domestic violence.
This year’s increase is the second highest since the last 5 years.
2012 registers as the bloodiest year with 100-and-8 murders being committed.
Though murders have trended upwards, shooting, rape, praedial larceny, and aggravated assault have all hit the downward trajectory.
